Bernard Mei

KANGLEY- Bernard L. “Bernie” Mei 75 of Kangley died Tuesday (March 3, 2015) at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. With Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, the rosary will be recited at 3:45 PM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mr. Mei was born Dec. 22, 1939 in Galesburg the son of Orlando and Leona (Neilsen) Mei.
Bernie had been a teacher in various schools in LaSalle County, retiring in 2004 after 20 years of teaching.  He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator and was a member of several organizations in the area and loved to ride his Moto Guzzi motorcycles.
He was a 1959 graduate of Streator High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Eureka College and his Master’s degree from Illinois State University.
He is survived by the love of his life, Carol Couch, Kangley, one daughter, Tammy (Mike) Kohlman, Chillicothe, one son, Tim (Jen) Mei, Spokane WA, nine grandchildren, Bria, Alexa and Mikayla Kohlman, Lainey, Jaret, Josh, Linsey, Levi and Liliana Mei.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Mei.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
