STREATOR- Carmen Bowman 73 of Streator died Thursday morning (April 10, 2014) at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rory Christensen, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Bowman was born Aug. 28, 1940 in Doniphan Missouri, the daughter of Ellis Bell and Alta Irene (Robinson) Emmons. She married Donald Bowman, Feb. 10, 1962 in Streator. He survives.
Carmen had worked briefly at Thatcher Glass Co, Streator and then had owned and operated several private care homes in Streator over the past 50 years, caring for the elderly. She attended Central Church of Christ, Streator and St. Mary’s Grade School and Streator High School. Carmen and her family came to Streator seeking work at the bottle house early in her life.
She is survived by her husband Don, one daughter, Robin (Patrick) Turner, Streator, five grandchildren, Amanda (Rick) Arkels, Zackary (Gretchen) Turner, Jerimiah, Benjamin and Alexandrea Turner, nine great grandchildren, Cabrey Arkels, Keegan Sauers, Joeylynn Arkels, Carson Arkelsc,Scarlett Arkels, Ashton, Charlie, Carmen and Khloey Turner, one sister, Elaine Shepard, Chico CA and one brother, William “Bert” Emmons, Doniphan MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Rayden Turner, one sister, Maxine Tanner and two brothers, Robert and Carlos Emmons.
Pallbearers will be Amanda Arkels, Zackary, Jerimiah, Benjamin and Alexandrea Turner and Joshua Holland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cabrey Arkels, Keegan Sauers, Joeylynn Arkels, Carson Arkels, Scarlett Arkels, Ashton, Charlie, Carmen and Khloey Turner.
