STREATOR- Catherine M. “Katy” Michlik 86 of Streator died Monday morning (Feb. 27, 2012) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:15 AM Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator.
Mrs. Michlik was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Streator the daughter of Oliver and Josephine (Gass) Lahman. She married Andrew Michlik, June 1, 1946 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2003.
Katy was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church. She had been employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and G.C. Murphy Co. both of Streator and later owned and operated Katy’s Beauty Shop for many years prior to her retirement. She attended Streator grade schools and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1942 and also was a graduate of a beauty school in Kankakee.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Jeffrey) Elliott, rural Streator, one granddaughter, Jessica Elliott, Streator, two great grandchildren, Jaden and Jessa Durbin, one sister Shirley Tutoky, one brother-in-law, George Michlik, and a special friend, Gene Gehrts, all of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Andrew Michlik Jr., one granddaughter Megan Elliott, step father, Henry W. Melchers, two brothers, Harold Lahman and Henry H. Melchers.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Elliott, David and Jim Michlik, Bob Lahman, Stewart L. Fairall and Andrew Elzer.
Memorials may be made to Streator Unlimited or St. Michael the Archangel School.
