STREATOR- Darren A. Hallowell 42 of Chicago, formerly of Streator passed away Thursday evening (Sept. 20, 2012) at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Central Church of Christ, Streator with Charles Cline officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator.
Darren went to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 20th after a courageous battle against refractive lymphoma. He was surrounded by his loving family and is now in heavenly peace. Darren was born July 6, 1970 in Streator the son of David and Judith (Kerestes) Hallowell. Darren attended local schools, graduated from Streator High School in 1988, and then attended Columbia College in Chicago. He loved the City of Chicago and resided there since 1988. Darren worked for many years at Tower Records in Chicago and most recently as a copy editor at Manufacturers’ News, Inc. Darren brought great joy to his family and friends and will be deeply missed by us all. Darren enjoyed music, fashion design, and tennis both as a player and spectator. He had an incredible sense of wit and humor along with a wonderful loving and generous heart.
He is survived by his parents, David and Judith Hallowell, Streator, two sisters, Angela Story-Loeffel (Scott) of South Portland, Maine, Pamela Hallowell, Bloomington and one brother, David (Karie) Hallowell, Streator and nieces Ashley and Jasmin Hallowell, Samantha Story, Kasey (Anthony) DeBery, and Kim Loeffel.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Tom and Alberta Kerestes and Clifford and Vivian Hallowell.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
