Deborah "Debbie" Whitehurst Simpko

Deborah L. “Debbie” Whitehurst Simpko, 70 of Streator passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at her home.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.  Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.

Debbie was born June 24, 1953 in Fort Pierce, FL, a daughter of James Edward and Caroline Rebecca (Rause) Whitehurst.  She married Gary E. Simpko on May 5, 1973 in Avon Park, Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary; two granddaughters, Tatum and Maya Simpko of Marseilles; and three brothers, Eddie (Barb) Whitehurst of Bonifay, FL, Jeff (Denise) Whitehurst of Westville, FL, and Will (Maria) Whitehurst of DeFuniak Springs, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Heather Simpko; and a son, Shane Simpko.           

Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Avon Park High School in Florida.  She had worked for Centrue and Midland States Bank in Streator.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
