Edward L. Burash 82 of Streator died Sunday evening (Dec. 25, 2011) at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley .
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church , Streator with Rev. Dustin Schultz, officiating, music will be provided by Sharon Hatzer, organist and the Resurrection Choir. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with a prayer service at 7:45 PM Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mr. Burash was born Jan. 2, 1929 in Streator the son of John and Anna (Hrabek) Burash. He married Mary Catherine “Kathy” Higgins, Oct. 4, 1974 in Peoria . She survives.
Ed had been employed at Thatcher Glass Co., Sunstar Foods and Northside Iron and Steel all of Streator. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church , Streator, and a long time member of Streator Men’s Bowling Association. He attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School .
He is survived by his wife Kathy of Streator, two daughters, Nancy (Ken) Schmitt and Theresa Grove both of LaSalle, one son, Edward (Peggy) Burash Jr. of Mark IL, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Ann (William) Gibbons, Streator and Dorothy (Tom) Wright, Rockford, two brothers, John (Edith) Burash and Robert Burash both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Burash, one sister, Margaret Sharisky and one brother, Andrew “Smiley” Burash.
Pallbearers will be Eddy B. Burash, Richard B. Burash, Michael A. Burash, Matt Burash, Mark Burash, Marvin Burash, Gary Calkins and Jeffery Aslock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Burash, John Sickler and Walter Dobberpuhl.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel School Fund.
