STREATOR- Elizabeth “Betty” Mackey 102 of Olive Branch Mississippi formerly of Streator, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2012) at her nieces home in Olive Brach.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Jerry Haley officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Mackey was born June 18, 1910 in Gilman, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Grace (Taylor) Holch. She married Harry B. Mackey, Jan 26, 1952 at First united Methodist Church, Streator. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 2002.
Betty had been employed in the Chemistry Laboratory at Owens-Illinois Glass Co., Streator for thirty four years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Letter Lieutenants at Owens-Illinois Glass and a member over 50 years of both the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem. She attended Gilman grade schools and was a graduate of Gilman High School, class of 1928 and a graduate of Illinois State University and the University of Illinois.
She is survived by a niece, Nancy Jockisch, Olive Brach, MS, with whom she made her home, two great nieces Janice Jockisch and Jennifer Brummett, one great nephew Jim Jockisch, one great great niece, Courtney Brummett and a sister-in-law, Lucille Beyer, Dwight.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Dorothy Taylor Bruce.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or St. Mary’s Hospital.
