Esperanza Tamez

Esperanza Tamez, 71 of Aurora formerly of Streator passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Copley Memorial Hospital, Aurora.

A graveside service will be held at 12:15 PM Monday, December 14, 2020 at Riverview Cemetery, Streator.  At the request of the family, there will be a private family-only viewing.  Due to Covid 19 Pandemic, facial masks will be required and social distancing standards will be followed.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

Esperanza was born on February 2, 1949 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico,  a daughter of Benjamin and Sofia Tamez.  She is survived by her mother, Sofia Menchaca Tamez; her siblings, Jose (Zoila) Tamez, Rosalinda Cortez, Irma Terron, Ricardo (Hilda) Tamez, Juan Gustavo (Linda) Tamez, Martha (Marcos) Torres, Maria Susana Tamez, Lilia Tamez, Alejandro Arturo Tamez, Juan Jr. Gonzalez, and Andrea (Isidro) Partida.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Tamez; a sister, Norma Tamez; a brother, Benjamin Menchaca Tamez; and a nephew, Harold Wilsman Carpenter.

Esperanza was an active member at her church.  She enjoyed signing and dancing, adored babies and loved her family dearly.  She was an excellent worker and received many awards for her service.
