STREATOR- Francis H.”Sanny” Reihl Jr. 88 of Streator died Friday afternoon (Mar. 29, 2013) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, with Sister Laura Northcraft, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial with full military rites conducted by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mr. Reihl was born Sept. 29, 1924 in Streator the son of Francis and Martha (Plain) Reihl Sr. He married Alba Barickman Sept. 3, 1949 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Streator. She survives.
Francis had been employed for thirty one years at Anthony Body Co. and seventeen years as a custodian with District 44 schools, both of Streator. He was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and a life member of American Legion Post # 217 and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post # 1492, Streator. Sanny attended St. Anthony Grade School and Streator High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy in the Pacific for three and a half years where he received a medal from the Philippine Government for his participation in the liberation of the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife Alba, one daughter, Marti (Jeff) Highsmith, Streator, two grandchildren, Catherine (Joseph) Tupayachi, Streator and Zachery (Megan) Highsmith, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX, two great granddaughters, Liliana and Milania Highsmith, two brothers, Vincent (Annmarie) Reihl and Harold Reihl, both of Streator, three sisters-in-law, Theresa Barickman, Streator, Mary Barickman, Champaign, Julia Donaldson, Toledo OH and two brothers-in-law, Bill Maubach, and Jack Barickman both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Margaret Reihl, Magdalene Maubach and one brother, George Reihl.
