STREATOR- Gary A. Etenburn 62 of Streator died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2012 ) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home. Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 following the funeral services.
Mr. Etenburn was born Oct. 19, 1949 in Streator the son of Norman and Margaret (Surrock) Etenburn. He married Peggy Gotch, Apr. 12, 1975 in Streator. She survives.
Gary had been employed at Carriage House for thirty two years prior to his retirement on Oct. 28, 2011.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492, Streator. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in US Air Force in Okinawa and Vietnam. He attended Streator schools and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1967.
Gary had a love for sports, especially baseball and football. He enjoyed coaching little league and girls softball for many years. He also enjoyed attending home games of football, girls softball and basketball and liked to watch the Cubs, NFL football and go to the lake to fish and relax.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, one son Billy Etenburn, his parents Norman and Margaret Etenburn, one sister, Kristine Vickers, all of Streator, several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Paul Michael Etenburn and one brother Lewis Etenburn.
