Gene H. Vissering Sr.

Gene Harmy Vissering Sr., 73 of Streator passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Friday at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator with funeral services following at 5:00 PM.  Pastor Rodney Kreier will officiate.  Cremation rites will follow the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.

Gene was born October 2, 1949 in Streator, a son of Harmy and Mildred (Gebhardt) Vissering.  He married Janice Huber on January 21, 1983 in Pontiac.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice; his children and grandchildren, Gene (Selita) Vissering of Alabama and their son, Bobby; Jason (Nina) Vissering of Streator and their daughter Alyssa; Chris (Rachel) Rogers of Michigan and their children Boden, Lizzy, Tyrel, Grace and Glory; Gwen (Quentin) Koesler of Sandwich and their children Autumn and Jack; Jillian (Joseph Vickers) Vissering and her children Riley, Kaden and Zerek; and Jennifer (Daniel) McDonald of Somonauk and their daughter Genevieve.  Also surviving are three sisters, Sandy (Steve) Hill of Streator, Carol (Dave) Winn of Pontiac, and Peggy Rizzo of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Pineda.

Gene was a graduate of Streator High School where he was on the Boxing Team.  He had worked for and retired from Prestress Engineering.
