James "Jim" F. Sherwood

James “Jim” F. Sherwood, 81, of Streator passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Arc of Streator.

 Jim was born September 22, 1943 in Streator, a son of C. Lawrence and Mildred (Connor) Sherwood. He married Kathleen on June 26, 1972 in Streator. She survives.

 Also surviving are his children, Tanya (Duane) Wright of Belleville and Travis Sherwood of Streator; four grandchildren, Brianna (Alex) Barry, Nicole Sexton (Fiancé Vinny Bartholomew), Taylor Mueller, and Logan Wright; and a brother, Robert Sherwood of California. A special thank you to sister-in-law, Brenda Stimpert and her husband, Bob for all their help and support.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Sherwood; and a grandson, Jamyson Wortz.

 Jim was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1961. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1968 as a radar specialist.

 Jim had worked at Owens-Illinois Glass for 33 years, after which he and Kathleen moved to the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. There they enjoyed selling at their flea market booth in Monteagle, TN, until they returned to Streator in 2018.

 Following Jim’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator has been entrusted with arrangements.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Illinois Valley Animal Rescue in LaSalle.
