James Robert “Bob” Winn, 85 of Streator passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator. The services will be officiated by Rev. Rodney Kreier. The family will have a private burial service at the Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator, at a later date.
Bob was born April 22, 1937 in Brockway, PA, a son of Harold and Dorothy (Tuttle) Winn. He married Barbara Gedye on October 19, 1958 at the Tonica Methodist Church. She survives, along with their seven children, Veronica (Pete) Anderton, Jeanette (Jerry) Redman, Daniel (Lori) Winn, Marsha (Martin) Carrillo, Michael (Marie) Winn, Michelle (Donald Jr.) Lukach, and Beth Ann (David) Lawless; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Anna Winn; and four brothers, Harold, David (Carol), Thomas “Tom” (Junitta “Jo”), and Willis “Willie”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wilma Whalen and Mary Dittmer; and two brothers, Douglas “Doug” and Russell “Rusty”.
Bob was a member of the Prairie Creek Fellowship Church, formerly known as the “Primitive Methodist Church” of Streator. He was a board member for many years and an usher at the church. He enjoyed volunteering his time as a maintenance man for many years at the church.
He retired from Owens after 37 years of service in 1993 as a supervisor. After retirement, Bob worked beside his son-in-law, Jerry Redman at Redman Quality Air for over 20 years doing HVAC / airduct cleaning. A favorite summer past time, was helping on his brother Doug’s farm. Bob was considered a “Jack of all Trades”.
Outdoor recreation was his passion. He enjoyed: fishing, hunting and family camping. He enjoyed time with his family and was loved dearly by his children and grandchildren.
