Jean B. Causland, 96, of Streator passed away Sunday Morning (March 13, 2016) at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.
Her funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. David Tellinghuisen officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Todd and Eric Russow, Dr. George Panagakis, Shawn Murphy, Trenton Girard, Carl Reason and John Lamkin. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heritage Health in Streator.
Jean was born June 26, 1919 in Marseilles, the daughter of John and Margaret Cairns Bermes. She married Rodney Russow on February 3, 1942. He died March 23, 1969. She later married George F. Causland on February 1, 1974. He died September 25, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Funke of Streator and Betty Lou (Robert) Erickson of Granville; a son, Gary (Irene) Russow of Ancona; 10 grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Russow, Eric (Cara) Russow, Melissa (Shawn) Murphy, Connie (Dr. George) Panagakis, Cindie Baker, Amanda (Trenton) Girard, Megan (Carl Reason) Perry, Laurie Erickson, Krissie (John) Lamkin and Michelle Erickson; and 16 great grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Russow, Colton Murphy, Michael, Corbin, Carter and Madyson Panagakis, Colin and Maghie Baker, Addyson, Kate and Coy Girard, Cody, Abbiegail and Tyler Lamkin and Derick Kauffman.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands; her parents; two sisters, Margaret Bedecker and Helen Rapp; and two brothers, John and Donald Bermes.
Jean attended school in Brookfield Township and graduated from school in Grand Rapids Township. She was a farm wife and had worked in the nutrition department at Woodland School and St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, Streator, a 40 year member of the Pleasant Hour Club, a lifetime member of the Streator Eastern Star #101 and the Garden Club.
She enjoyed traveling and most recent years, spending her winters in Florida. She loved playing cards with her friends and family, especially with her grandchildren. She was noted for her potted plants and beautiful flower gardens.
