Jerry "Uncle Rudy" Swartz

Jerry L. “Uncle Rudy” Swartz Sr., of Streator passed away at 3:00 PM Sunday (October 14, 2018) at his residence.

A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM Thursday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home.  Rev. Rob Dickman will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator.

He was born December 31, 1960 in Buckley, Illinois to William Henry & Rachel (Powers) Swartz.

He is survived by his children:  Randy (Danelle) Swartz of Streator, Jerry (Brittany) Swartz Jr., of Bloomington, Amber Swartz of Stanford, IL and Nicole Swartz of Streator; 7 grandchildren; 3 sisters:  Barbara Peters of Streator, Kathy (Erosmo) Espinoza of Thawville, IL and Darlene Garcia of Gillman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Ernest “Ernie” Swartz, Donald, Joseph, Jeff, Paul Henry & Jim Swartz and sisters:  Sue Patlan and Judy Miller.

He graduated from Onarga High School.

He worked for the LaSalle County Housing Authority as a maintenance technician.

He formerly belonged to Central Church of Christ.

Jerry was an avid fisherman and squirrel hunter and always said, “That all the squirrels in the county knew his name.”  He loved to be a teller of tales.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
