Joan B. Faustner, 96 of Streator passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2021 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with Fr. Ryan Mattingly officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service and burial will be at a later date in St. Casimir’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Patton, Corey Inman, Chris Patton, Derek Stull, Nick Libby and Patrick Duffy. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Stull and Trystin Nettleingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 Sunday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Sunday. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, facial coverings are required, and social distancing standards will be followed.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Joan was born June 23, 1924 in Streator, a daughter of William and Sabina (Guyon) Reed. She married George P. Faustner on May 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1992.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Patton, Kathy Inman and Julie (David) Stull all of Streator; 6 grandchildren, Jeff (Anne) Patton, Corey Inman, Christopher Patton, Kerri (Nick) Libby, Jamie (Patrick) Duffy, and Derek Stull; 6 great grandchildren, Jeffery Patton, Savannah (James) Sherwood, Trystin and Kylie Nettleingham, Ashley Patton and Joelle "JoJo" Duffy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Steven Faustner; a brother, William (Ann) Reed Jr.; and 5 sisters, Evelyn (Albert) Harcharik, Helen (Mike) Markut, Mary (John) Poruba, Anita (Frank) Muscato, and Patricia (David) Kovalik.
Joan attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1942. She attended Browns Business School in Chicago. During World War II, she worked at the Seneca Shipyard in the Production Control Department. She later worked at the YMCA as a secretary, Citizen’s Loan, Owen – Illinois Insurance Department and then Streator Home where she retired from.
Joan was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. She also kept currant records for her class of 1942. Her greatest joy was being with her family. Especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
