Joan J. Johnson

Joan J. Johnson, 78 of Streator passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at OSF Center for Health Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator, with Fr. Ignacio Cárdenas officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.  Pallbearers will be her cousins.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.

Joan was born July 18, 1945, in Streator, the daughter of Everill H. and Helen M. (Seroka) Johnson.  She attended the Streator schools and graduated from Streator High School class of 1963.  She worked at Owens – Illinois Glass Co. as a mechanic in the cold end.  She was the first women mechanic at Owens.  She retired in 2003 after 33 years.

Joan was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Streator.  She was member of the Streatorland Historical Society and had been an officer of the GMP Local 140 Union at Owens.

She is survived by several cousins.
