John Kovac

John T. Kovac, 70, of Streator passed away at 3:45 PM Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Parker Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Streator.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Wednesday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.  Rev. Raymond Guthrie of St. Michael the Archangel Church will officiate.

He was born October 14, 1946 in Streator, IL to John & Helen (Novak) Kovac.  He married the former Patricia M. “Pat” Hanusick on September 9, 1967 at St. Stephen’s Church.  She preceded him in death on June 30, 2013.

He is survived by daughters:  Angie (Gary) Drysdale and Amy Kovac, both of Streator; grandchildren:  Rebekah & Wyatt Drysdale and Cassandra Kovac-Fluech; 2 brothers:  Jim (Barb) Kovac of Sherrard and Ed (Kim) Kovac of Alexandria Virginia and a sister, Lynn (Ernie) Valis of DuBois, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a granddaughter, Catlin.

He graduated from Woodland High School and had formerly worked at Plymouth Tube, Chris’ Flower Shop, St. Mary’s Hospital and had last worked at John and Joe Florist.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.  He gardened with the Evergreen Gardening Club and had his home on the garden walk.  He also did taxidermy work.  He was a former member of the Sandy Ford Sportsman Club and the Streator Eagles Aerie #645.
