Joseph Nowaczyk Sr.

STREATOR- Joseph A. Nowaczyk Sr. 73 of Streator formerly of Lisle, died Friday morning (June 1, 2012) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Dustin Schultz, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 AM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Mr. Nowaczyk was born May 30, 1939 in Chicago the son of Stanley and Valentina (Zemrowski) Nowaczyk. He married Barbara Skiba who preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2008. He later married Jacqueline “Jackie” Saunders, Mar. 10, 2012. She survives.
Joe had been employed as an elevator mechanic by the Hopkins Illinois Elevator Co. Chicago, retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator and also a member of the National Elevator Constructors Union. Joe was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He attended St. Mary Magdalene grade school and was a graduate of St. Leo High School, class of 1957, both of Chicago.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline “Jackie” of Streator, three daughters, Denise (Phillip) Badger, Streator, Kathy Geer, Warrenville and Donna (Patrick) Barnett, Dade City FL, three sons, Paul and David Nowaczyk both of Naperville and Joseph Nowaczyk Jr. Lisle, two grandchildren and one great grandson, one step daughter, Theresa (Michael) Ellis, Bucksport ME, two step sons, Walter Saunders Jr. Blue Hill ME and Bradley (Robyn) Saunders, Surry ME, three step grandsons and one step great grandson, two sisters, Mary Ann (Ray) Predenkiewicz and Midge (Enrique) O’Chart both of Tucson AZ.
