Violet Lucille Durdan, 93 of Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, formerly of Ancona passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at OSF St. James John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Her funeral mass will be 12:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at St. Mary of the Fields Catholic Church, Rural Grand Ridge. Deacon Ron Wackerlin and Fr. Sixmund Henry will be officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dean, Jacob, Jeremy, Justin, and Brandon Durdan, and great grandsons, Ryder Durdan and Nico Salvati. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Saturday at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home. In honor of Lou’s love of Spring, attendees are welcome to wear spring colors to the funeral.
Lucille was born February 13, 1931 in Long Point, the daughter of Everett B. and Viola (Hatfield) Artman. She married John S. Durdan on April 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2020.
Surviving are three sons, Steve (Pat) Durdan of Rural Streator, Chuck (Beth) Durdan of Streator and Jon (Julie) Durdan of Ancona; seven grandchildren, Dawn Salvati, Ashley (Trevor) Levy, Dean (Natalie) Durdan, Jacob and Jeremy Durdan, and Justin and Brandon Durdan; and five great grandchildren; Ryder Durdan, Isabella and Nico Salvati, and Lydia and Jacqueline Durdan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a son, Frank; a daughter Julie in infancy; four brothers, Stanley (Norma) Artman, Kenneth (Georgia) Artman, Rexall Artman and Jack (Ruth Anne) Artman; two sisters, Ruby (Dwain) Raridon and Shirley (Edward) Weyand; and three sisters in infancy.
Lucille was a member of the Former St. Stephen’s Church in Streator. She had a love for flowers and plants and enjoyed gardening and baking. She will be remembered for her green thumb and her dinner rolls “Grandma Buns”. More importantly, Lucille was known for being the sweetest person ever.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evenglow Lodge for their compassion and care they have shown Lou.
