Mary Mae Ethington, 79, of Oakland, IL passed away September 2, 2019 at her residence.
Mary was born September 11, 1939 in Forsyth, IL, the daughter of Lawrence Emerson and Goldie Cleo (Koehler) Creekmur. She married Clarence Ethington on July 30, 1960 in Forsyth, IL. Together they owned and operated the Oakland Bakery and Noodle Company, from 1979 – 2015.
Mary was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, and a member of the Audubon Society. She was an avid quilter loved cooking and enjoyed feeding wild birds and hummingbirds. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence; children, Timothy Ethington of Toledo, IL and formerly of Ransom and Streator, Tonya Fowler (Richard) of Oakland, IL, Todd Ethington (Kimberly) of Oakland, IL, Toby Ethington of Normal, IL; siblings, Lloyd Creekmur (Mary) of Warrensburg, IL, Rose Lee Davis, Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Aiden, Dustin, Matthew, Lawrence, Ryan, Danielle, Eleni, Seth, Jayden, Brittany and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and granddaughter, Amberlyn.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Graceland Cemetery, within the Star of Hope Mausoleum.
