Matthew Robert Schultz

Matthew Robert Schultz, 49 of Sheridan passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at his home.

He was born December 15, 1972 in Naperville, a son of Alice and George Schultz.  He was brother to Ginger (Scott Anderson), Heather, Andy (Michelle), Faith, Ben and Lindsey (Austin Roth); father to Brandi (Trevor Davy), Garrett, Wyatt, and Savanna; grandpa to Levi and Iona; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Ashton Phillips; a brother, Ben Schultz, and his uncle and mentor, Jerry Hutton.

Matt enjoyed being a part of a large family, holding unique relationships with each of them.

From a young age, Matt enjoyed fishing, fast cars and carpentry.  He learned much of the carpentry trade from his Uncle Jerry.  While working for Jerry Hutton Construction Company, he became very skilled at Craftsman Style Carpentry.  For a short time, he followed in the family footsteps of plumbing and pipefitting, working for Prestige Plumbing out of Aurora.

In his later years, Matt cherished time with family and friends and especially looked forward to nights playing cards with his kids.

Matts passions were music, philosophy, and profound conversations with others.  Matt was known to many as a rebellious but intelligent man.  Those that knew him closely valued his insight, advice and perception of life.

A natural born protector, Matt never hesitated to stand up for others when needed.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.
