Phyllis A. Canale

Phyllis A. Canale, 96 of Streator passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the Arc of Streator.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 21, 2025 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, with Pastor Rodney Kreier officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Phyllis was born May 12, 1928 in Ransom, a daughter of Frank H. and Ida (Geheber) Hagi. She married Frank J. Canale on February 21, 1946 in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2013.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Crawford of Streator; a son, Thomas Canale of Streator; three grandchildren, Carrie (Ron) Harcar, Jennifer (Tony) Kestner, and Tom “TJ” (Melissa) Crawford, all of Streator; 8 great grandchildren, Ashlee (Chris) Cravatta, Jake and Kaylee Harcar, Payton Crawford, Drake (Hallie) Crawford, and Cole, Madilynn and Emily Kestner; and four great great grandchildren, Mary Kay and Ayla Phillips and Case and Colbie Cravatta. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Donovan of Dwight; and a brother, Joe (Anita) Hoffman of Marseilles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Hagi and Ida Hoffman; her husband, Frank; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Bill) Morris; a brother and sister-law, Robert (Linda) Hagi; a brother-in-law, James “Tim” Donovan; and a son-in-law, Thomas Crawford.

Phyllis had worked at the Ransom Cable company for many years. She and her husband, Frank had owned and operated Canale’s Confectionary in Ransom.

Phyllis was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She cherished her family above all else and will be deeply missed by her loving family.
