Raymond E. Pickworth, 79 of Streator passed away with his daughters by his side Thursday, February 17, 2022 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. with funeral services to follow at 12:00 Noon Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator. Military rites preformed by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Pallbearers will be Mike Meads, Colt Meads, Martin Kraus, JT Hammitt, Chad Hammitt, Marlon Calahan, Marcus McGough, and Mike Cole.
Raymond was born February 16, 1943 in Streator, a son of Raymond and Marjorie M. (Hanson) Pickworth. He had been married to the former Judith Mills.
He is survived by two daughters, Dawn (Mike) Meads of Mt. Juliet, TN and Leslie (Martin) Kraus of El Sobrante, CA; a grandson, Colt Meads of Huntsville, AL; a step-grandson, Joe (Juliana) Meads of Chicago; his former wife, Judith Pickworth of Streator; three sisters, Janet (Bruce) Hammitt of Gibson City, Janice (Kim) Newhausen of Byron, and Joy Summers of Greenfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In his youth, Ray was proud to be in the Civil Air Patrol and spoke of his experience highly. He enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was deployed to the Mediterranean and Vietnam. Upon his return, he became a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
For more than thirty years, Ray was employed at Commonwealth Edison. He began his career as a lineman and proudly retired as a troubleman He was an avid bowler and had bowled on several bowling leagues.
