STREATOR- Rita M. Adamchak 81 of Streator died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2013) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Streator. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adamchak was born Aug. 2, 1932 in Streator the daughter of John and Sabina (Butchko) Balke. She married Edward R. Adamchak Sr. Aug. 26, 1950 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Streator. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 2008.
Rita had been employed at St. Mary’s Hospital and later at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and was also a seamstress for Dan Howard Industries, all of Streator. She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and Streator High School. She enjoyed her many friends at Schmitt Meadows Apartment Complex.
She is survived by four daughters, Victoria (Gregg) Geneske, Streator, Laura (James) Eschbach, Lake Villa, Sharon (Dave) Ball, DeKalb and Dolly (Leonard) Lee, Gallatin TN, one son Edward (Julie) Adamchak Jr., Post Falls, ID, eight grandchildren, two great grandsons, one sister, Maxine Pfau, Ottawa and a sister-in-law, Elaine Balke, Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five sisters, Rose Sepesy, Esther Thanasse, Wilma Majernik, Burdett Lewis and Dolorine Balke in infancy and one brother John Balke.
The family was especially thankful for Heritage Health and their exceptional care and support during Rita’s illness.
