Rita Louise Rea 78 of Streator formerly of Chicago and Florida , died Thursday morning (Dec. 22, 2011) at her daughters home in rural Streator.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday Dec. 28, 2011 at Stower Funeral Home, Brandon FL, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Valrico FL, burial will be in Bloomingdale Cemetery, Valrico FL. A Memorial Mass will be held in Illinois at a later date. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Rea was born April 1, 1933 in Chicago the daughter of John and Lillian (Elliott) Ahearn. She married James Bell Rea Oct. 10, 1959. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1998.
Rita had been employed as a bookkeeper in the Chicago area. She was a former member of St. Alexander’s Church, Villa Park . She was a past president of the PTA and a Girl Scout Leader. She attended Chicago schools and graduated from Siena High School , Chicago , class of 1951.
She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Rea, Westmont, Sharon (Joe) Dondelinger, rural Streator, one son, David J. (Kathleen) Rea, Westmont, one sister Margaret Tyska, Valrico FL, two brothers, Terrance Ahearn, Naperville and Roger (Laurel) Ahearn, Sarasota FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter Christina Bell Rea.
