Russell W. Paxson, 86, of Streator passed away at 6:50 PM Saturday (June 1, 2019) at his residence.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM Saturday (June 8, 2019) at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military rites by the Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
He was born on October 3, 1932 in Hennepin, IL to Horace & Ethel (Metcalf) Paxson. He married Betty L. (Melrose) Augustine on December 23, 1977. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2010.
He is survived by his children: Dorann (Ron) Plequin of Tucson, AZ, Dean (Michelle) Paxson of Tocoma, WA, Dale Paxson of Tucson, AZ, Linda O’Brien of Streator, Ava L. (James) Bailey of Chenoa, Joe Augustine of Streator; a grandson, Keenan Anderson; son-in-law, Jay Anderson of Tucson, AZ; numerous grand and great grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Mary) Paxson of Lemont and special friend, Jen Falk of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; a son Douglas Augustine; a son-in-law, Bill O’Brien and a sister, Barbara.
He attended Streator Township High School and serviced in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Russell was a plumber pipefitter for Metcalf Plumbing and Heating before retirement.
He was a member of the Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
