STREATOR- Ruth M. Hollister 84 of Streator died Monday afternoon (Nov. 5, 2012) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Jerry Haley, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Hollister was born June 28, 1928 in Streator the daughter of Ernest and C. Myrtle (Cokley) Hadley. She married Roy Hollister Sept. 22, 1949 at First United Methodist Church, Streator, he survives.
Ruth had been employed as a grade school teacher for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Streator, and the Democratic Women. Ruth ran for State Representative under the Democratic ticket twice. She attended Streator grade schools and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1946 and also was a graduate of Illinois State University, Normal.
She is survived by her husband Roy, one son, Randall (Linda) Hollister Sr., Streator, two grandchildren, Candis (Bart) Welch, Morris and Randy Hollister II, Streator, one great grandson, Bart Welch II, one sister, Leona (Vernon) Puetz, rural Streator and a son-in-law, Craig Wilson Seattle WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judith Wilson, two sisters, Edith Ilene Hadley, a sister in infancy and one brother, Arnold Hadley.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
