Ruth Silva

STREATOR-  Ruth (Berta) Silva 78 of Sarasota Florida, formerly of Streator died Thursday (Apr. 25, 2013) in Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 PM Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Silva was born Nov. 21, 1934 in Shipley Maryland, the daughter of Charles and Mamie (Disney) Purdum. She married Richard “Dick” Berta Jan. 17, 1953. He preceded her Mar. 14, 1995. She later married Arthur Silva, Dec. 30, 2000, he survives.
Ruth had been a lunch server at Sherman School, Streator for twenty one years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator and had been active with the Tri-Par Shuffleboard and Horseshoe Clubs. She attended grade school in Maryland and was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School.
She is survived by her husband Arthur, three daughters, Dolores (David) Lukachik, E. Peoria, Diana (Dan) Reynolds, Streator and Dorrie Berta, Peoria, one son David (Karen) Berta, Varna, one stepdaughter, Anne Lee (Charlie) Ellis, Littleton MA, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, two sisters, Lyndal (Paul) Bailey, Aberdeen MD, Mildred (Mason) Riely, Prescott Valley AZ and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Purdum, Glen Burnie MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Berta and one brother, Wallace Purdum.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
