Soledad C. “Nina” Holofchak, 51, of Streator passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at OSF Center for Health, Streator.
Nina was born July 22, 1973 in Streator, a daughter of David V. and Maria Del Refugio Cerda Lopez. She married Brian Holofchak on October 23, 1995 in Ottawa, celebrating 28 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband, Brian; a son, Justin (Hannah) of Streator; grandchildren, Piper, Dawson, Liyah, Dayna, Ivan and a baby on the way, Olivia Nina Holofchak; siblings, J. Guadalupe (Christina) Lopez, Jesus (Delia) Lopez, and Juan Lopez, all of Streator, Maria (Leroy) Long of Oswego, Elena (Nick) LeBeau, and Jose Lopez both of Streator. Also surviving are her father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Pat Frankenfield of Streator; Sister's and Brother-in-laws, Cynthia Lopez, Amy Holofchak, and Eric Holofchak, all of Streator; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Angela Holofchak; three brothers, Manuel Lopez, David Lopez, and Mario Lopez; and a brother-in-law, Steve Holofchak.
Mass of Chrisian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 3, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with Monsignor Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Justin Holofchak, Eric Holofchak, Leroy Long, Nick LeBeau, Andrew Lopez, and Cipriano Lopez.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator and again from 9:30 to 10:30 Saturday at the funeral home.
Nina was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Streator and formerly worked for Red Wing in Streator.
Nina cherished her family and faith, finding solace and strength in both. Her favorite pastime was cooking, a skill she honed over the years and shared with her loved ones. Her warm and delicious meals brought people together, creating cherished memories.
Above all else, Nina's heart belonged to her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, bringing her immeasurable love and joy. She cherished every moment she spent with them, creating special bonds that will be treasured forever.
Nina will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness, love, and her exceptional cooking. May she rest in eternal peace.
