Thomas Mital, 66 of Streator passed away surrounded by his loved ones Sunday morning (August 27, 2017) at his home
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday (August 30, 2017) at the Hagi & Baker Funeral home, Streator. Private graveside services with Pastor Curtis Starner officiating will be held at a later date in Allen Township Cemetery, Ransom IL. Cremation rites were accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
Thomas was born on April 14, 1951 in Streator to John and Camilla (Boatman) Mital. He was formerly married to Diane Collins Watts. He is survived by his longtime companion Lorraine Hall of Streator.
He is also survived by his children; Tommye Cooper of Munford TN, Bradley (Diana) Mital of Ransom, John (Melissa) Mital of Streator and Megan (Jason) Malone of Ft. Pierce FL, sisters: Alice (Roger) Fellers of Peru, Pam Swartz of Streator, Grandchildren; Brody and Bradyn Cooper, John, Ellie and Brad Krasnican, Cal Mital, Sidney, Ethan, Steffen, Jase and Presley Malone. Lorraine’s children; Dave (Jill) Hall of Streator and Debbie Horton of Streator and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his longtime friends; Harold McKenzie Harold and Jenny Brogden, Sonny and Fran, his coffee buddy Ernie Hallam and his adopted dog Magic and his cat Boots.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; John “Buster” (Darlene) Mital a sister; Barb (Dean) Kling and brother-in-law Ernest Swartz.
Thomas attended Ransom Grade School and Streator Township High School. He worked for Vietti Construction, Streator Dependable and Servi Star Lumber. In the 70’s and early 80’s he managed the Ransom Traveling All Star Baseball Team.
His favorite place to eat, drink coffee and B.S. was Al’s Place in Streator. He was also a die hard Cubs fan all of his life. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.hagifuneralhome.com
