STREATOR- William “Nyle” Shanebrook 86 of Streator died Friday afternoon (Nov. 16, 2012) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM Tuesday a Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial with full military rites conducted by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shanebrook was born July 6, 1926 in Pontiac, the son of William and Clara (Brinkman) Shanebrook. He married Irene Mihalik Dec. 29, 1951 in Streator. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 2010.
Bill had been employed at Thatcher Glass Co. for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post # 217 and a former member of Reading Fire Department, all of Streator. He attended Pontiac grade schools and was a graduate of Pontiac High School, class of 1944; he served with the US Navy in WWII following graduation from High School, and later attended Bradley University.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Gene) Becker, Mokena, one son William (Cindy) Shanebrook, Burlington WI, two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Brandon) Birmingham, Orland Park and Sarah Shanebrook, Milwaukee WI and two great grandchildren, Emma and Patrick Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Merlyn Shanebrook.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
